Welcoming Two Tonne Tasmania to South Australia

Ricky Evans’ star has risen rapidly since the launch of his label Two Tonne Tasmania in earnest in 2013. Operations are a little more substantial than the eponymous two tonnes of Pinot Noir that he started with then, but his ethos remains the same: “Small parcels, big love”.

Sourcing fruit from the Tamar, Coal River and Derwent Valleys in Northern and Southern Tassie respectively, Ricky tends the fruit with full respect to the vineyard characteristics of each area. The personality of each cuvee is strikingly different, expressing true regional characters but with a common thread of liveliness and elegance.

This is the first label from Tasmania that Vinify has offered.

In a portfolio already bristling with great Pinot Noir and Chardonnay wines from the Adelaide Hills, Macedon and Mornington, we still saw a gap for these noble varieties grown on the diverse landscapes of Tasmania. These are so uniquely Tasmanian; unencumbered by new oak or overt winemaking (or a lack of winemaking as afflicts some newcomer producers), they complement our existing portfolio offering beautifully. Plus, who doesn’t love Tassie?

To boot, Ricky is one of the industry’s nicest and most down to earth people. Vinify is proud to welcome Two Tonne to the portfolio and we’re looking forward to a long and fruitful partnership!

We’re pleased to offer the TMV wines (Pinot, Riesling and Chardonnay) plus a couple of the stellar single vineyard range in our first release. The STH wines will be released next year.
